Fluoride

This is a proven preventive measure. When tooth decay is a problem, topical applications after the cleaning help reduce the chance of future cavities. At home, applications with rinses or prescription toothpastes are beneficial for some patients.

The fluoride rich surface of the tooth is up to 10x more resistant to the acid attacks caused by the plaque. This results in a lower incidence of decay, when combined with proper home care.
